Welcome to the Canada-Nunavut Geoscience OfficeThe Canada-Nunavut Geoscience Office (C-NGO) is a co-funded and co-managed partnership between Natural Resources Canada (the Geological Survey of Canada, Earth Sciences Sector), The Department of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, and the Government of Nunavut Department of Economic Development and Transportation. The C-NGO was established in 1999. The mandate of the C-NGO is to provide accessible geoscience information and expertise in Nunavut in support of responsible exploration and development of mineral and energy resources, geoscience capacity building, education, training, public outreach, and promoting an awareness of Earth science. To fulfil the mandate, the C-NGO will undertake regional-scale integrated geoscience mapping and research projects, targeted geoscience projects, develop partnerships to existing geoscience expertise, manage and disseminate publicly-accessible geoscience databases and reports, and provide scientific expertise in support of resource development opportunities in Nunavut. C-NGO activities include acquisition, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of geoscience data; thematic studies, geoscience information management, preparation of geoscience maps and scientific reports, and community outreach activities. C-NGO outreach activities are designed to increase awareness and understanding of geoscience in Nunavut and to integrate Inuit Traditional Knowledge (Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit).
